When you think of knitwear, you shouldn’t think of your nanna’s cardigans smelling of mothballs; nor of baby’s booties that the same nanna has been knitting for the last years in hope of a grandchild (keep knitting Nanna, it’s not going to happen).
Instead, think stream-lined jersey dresses, princess-cut, balloon-sleeved, keyhole pieces that will convince you quite firmly never to have children for fear of losing your sleek silhouette (or, in all fairness, the stretch material would be perfect for the growing tummy, but nanna isn’t to know this). Think of this, and you’ll be thinking of Victoria & Woods’ latest collection.
Chloe Kerr, designer of Victoria & Woods, proves that knitwear should never be underestimated with the following advice:
1. Those fat days just disappear when you put on a knit; due to the fabulous stretch factor, they will always stretch to fit! In terms of construction, a knitted garment is knitted into shape, meaning that you will be given the best fit possible. Yes, sharing is indeed caring - They have a fantastic capacity to stretch especially if you are wearing a ribbed knit – so you can share your knit pieces with all your girlfriends!
2. Knits are the ultimate work-to-play attire. Knits are so versatile in their construction and can have so many looks to the fabric, from a plain fine knit to a beautifully intricate knit such as a Missoni dress. Knits are amazingly trans seasonal - the way fabric is knitted allows the body to breath in the summer and keeps you warm in the winter.
3. ‘Cause they make you feel good. Knits contribute to the best winter feeling ever! Open fire, bowl of soup, sexy man and cuddly big knitted wooly jumper. They also evoke those happy feelings (or disturbed) of when Grandma used to knit those ‘special Christmas jumpers’.
