My Savvy

Someone, somewhere, once said that blondes have more fun. Savvy wonders, though, if the amount of fun a blonde can have is based on the quality of her locks?

While not everyone is blessed with golden tresses, Savvy firmly believes that one should fake it ‘til they make it – and who better to supply the cheat sheet than Chantelle from Melbourne’s Conrad Mace Salon – the place reportedly responsible for Nicole Kidman’s golden curls and known as the place in M-town to go to get “the perfect blonde”.
To achieve the perfect blonde:
1. DO go to a professional salon.
2. Use a violet-based toning shampoo (we love De Lorenzo Silver Shampoo) ONCE a week only, to eliminate any brassiness.
3. Regularly use moisturising treatments, applied for 20 minutes twice a week or used in place of conditioner, every time the hair is shampooed.
4. Avoid chlorinated pools when hair is newly coloured. For those who do swim regularly, rinsing the hair with clean tap water and applying conditioner before swimming reduces the amount of chlorine that is absorbed into the hair cuticle.
5. DO have weekly blow drys, as a professional can keep track of the condition of your hair. After all, your hairdresser wants you to have beautiful blonde hair too!
6. Over washing blonde hair can cause it to become weak and brittle. For the in-between days, try Klorane Dry Shampoo applied to the roots. Do not rinse.
7. A good leave-in moisturiser should be applied to damp hair after shampooing. Try Ref Spray Conditioner to restore damaged hair.
8. DO choose a blonde that compliments YOU. For darker hair and fair skin go for a golden, honey-toned blonde as opposed to a platinum.
9. DO NOT neglect blonde hair; it will only be amazing if you put in the effort!!!
10. REMEMBER, BLONDES DO HAVE MORE FUN!!!!
