My Savvy

I have long straight hair and a round face. I want a change and I’m looking for a more edgy, ‘of the moment’ style. What do you suggest without making me look frumpy in the face?

Dear Moon Face,
The length of your hair is crucial to slimming down your face.
To minimise a melon-head, have your hair stylist cut it to collar-bone length and wear a low side-sweeping fringe which is most flattering to your face shape…your fringe should follow the natural fall of your part, caressing the cheekbone and tapering off past your ear length to give the illusion of a slimmer face.
Absolutely avoid a centre part or a blunt straight fringe!

All About Brad: On the cutting edge of creativity, it isn’t hard to see why hairdresser Brad Ngata has been at the top of his game for almost two decades. If he’s not primping and preening the locks of models, celebrities and civilians alike at his Surry Hills Salon, you can generally find him hamming it up on the red carpet of life or appearing in articles about him being fabulous in glossy fashion mags. Now Savvy readers can catch him on the cutting edge by reading his weekly Agony Aunt column, Hair To Help. What World Vision does for starving children, Brad’s column does for Savvy readers with crap hair searching for help.
