Cracking down on cheats.
Savvy's ever-vigilant security team has identified what we call ‘Zombie Accounts’.

With the launch of the new Savvy technical platform, we have the technology – and yes, we know how to use it. In respect to all aspects of Savvy, including our Search for the Million Dollar Woman contest, we have more control than ever before. With control comes power, and with power comes responsibility. With responsibility comes the obligation to ensure that the contest is fair for all.

In this, the first month of the contest, our ever-vigilant security team has identified what we call ‘Zombie Accounts’. These are multiple accounts created by the same person, with the end goal of elevating the votes for a single contestant while down-voting other competitors. In short, the operators of these Zombie Accounts are cheating.

Fortunately, our technology and security give us the capability to act quickly in guaranteeing the integrity and fairness of this contest. To date we have identified a small number of people (read: cheaters) who have created these Zombie Accounts.

This Friday morning between 8 and 9 AM Pacific Standard Time Savvy will go off-line to remove all of the Zombie Accounts, and also to eliminate the votes these illegal accounts cast.

The offending people will be emailed directly, and informed of the action we are taking. If they re-offend, they will be removed immediately from the Contest and banned from re-joining.

Please note that this is the sole warning that will be issued. In the future, anyone breaching the rules will not only be disqualified immediately, but will be named and shamed.

Voters conducting the same action will also be banned without delay.

These conditions are laid out clearly in our rules (which are available on the Home Page for the Contest):

“The Competition Entities reserve the right to disqualify any Entrant for violations of voting requirements. Including but not limited to 1) encouraging voters to down vote other competitors. 2) Use of anonymous proxy servers and any proxy server which hides or changes static IP address registration.”

To that end, each month we will announce the official past monthly winner 24 hours after the monthly vote concludes. This will allow our team one final sweep to guarantee fairness and equity.

What does this mean to 99% of the voters and contestants? In basic terms, it’s fair. The vast majority of our Savvy Voters and Readers play by the rules, and we thank them for it. These Voters and Readers demand, and deserve, a fair and level playing field.

We intend to provide that field.

Thank you

Consider The Bullet

I have no doubt that Savvy is making every effort to make this contest as fair as possible for everyone. However, The Leaderboard changes during the last few days of April surely point to major 'Zombie' problems!
But what is your definition of a 'Zombie'? Will the elimination of these votes get you to the true winner?
I believe you have an inherent problem in the voting, that is, allowing an ISP to vote for more than one contestant each day. In my opinion, voting tens for one contestant and sevens or eights for another, is down voting and a 'Zombie' account. My suggestion is to allow only bullet voting, one vote for one contestant per ISP, after a certain date in the month. Now, what about all those ISP's that have made many friends, and are afraid to disappoint by not voting for all of them? After the certain date in the month they may vote for more than one contestant as long as the vote for each contestant is the same.
I hope you will consider these suggestions fairer solutions.
