Raven Lexy was three hankies into watching Old Yeller on TV when Savvy called her for her interview. She may have shed tears for that doomed yellow mongrel, but in her own life, there’s plenty to smile about.
Since moving to Los Angeles, the beautiful 25-year-old model and actress has had a string of successful auditions that have landed her promising projects.
“I go into production on Spiderella in August, so that’s really exciting. I’ve just been interviewed for the show Heroes on NBC. It would be fun, and I’d like to go in the direction of action shows and movies. I just wrapped filming the movie Crank 2: High Voltage with Jason Statham. Yeah, I thought he died at the end of the first movie. I was arguing with the producer, who asked me if I heard his heartbeat at the end. Maybe because his character was on so many drugs he managed to live after falling. I don’t know.”
She also caught the eye of producer Gary Marshall. “Meeting him was huge. He’s done everything – Laverne & Shirley, Pretty Woman, Happy Days,” she said.
She attributes her professional fortunes to her unique look and a lot of luck.
“I’ve only been in Hollywood for 12 weeks now so I’m thanking my lucky stars. There are a lot of blondes in Hollywood so being a brunette sets me apart. I also think I haven’t been in LA so long that I’ve lost that down to earth personality,” she said.
Perhaps it is also the fact that Raven is even more stunning in person than her photos. She met legendary supermodel Janice Dickinson, who runs an agency and is also a reality TV star. "Janice asked me, 'What ARE you?' and I told her I was Polynesian and Hispanic. She responded, 'Darling, you are the most beau-ti-ful woman in the world!' Then she asked if my breasts were real or fake. I answered that I had implants and she said, 'Well, that's not really fashion.'"
Raven is becoming as famous for her physique as her beautiful face. She recently got into the blogging debate over chest size and how much is too much. She developed early and got implants when she turned 21.
“So many people have large boobs now that it feels like it’s been overdone. Like reality shows, at first everyone loved them and couldn’t get enough, but now people want something else. I understand how that goes, but it really should be the woman’s choice. It’s one thing to get implants to please a man, but some women just like to feel like they fill out their clothes with larger breasts. There is a point where it gets overdone. I agree there is a limit.”
First impressions mean something in Hollywood, so Raven is glad she didn’t start out in Tinseltown.
“I was a little bit of a wild child when I lived in San Diego and went through a rebellious period because my parents were very religious. Like every young person in the big city, there are plenty of things to get into. My parents raised me very strictly. I didn’t live in LA at the time, which was a blessing in disguise because a lot of the younger girls trying to make it in Hollywood get tagged as party girls. Today I don’t really go out and party unless I am networking at a big event to promote something. When you enter the scene partying hard, it’s tough to get taken seriously when you audition.”
Asked if she prefers modeling or acting, she said she wants to become “the Bo Jackson of the entertainment world” because she enjoys doing both. In five years, Raven sees herself dialing down her career a notch.
“The great thing about the entertainment industry is you have the possibility of making so much money. The money, for me, would mean the freedom to live my life the way I want to, not tied down to an office but traveling and doing the little things you don’t think about. I want to have a big family with lots of kids, so I want to be able to take them all to Disneyland and have big birthday parties,” she said.
Raven stands out among the women at the Playboy mansion parties, but she’s yet to appear in Hef’s magazine.
“I would never say never,” she joked. “As far as nude shoots, my agent definitely wants me to wait until I’m established as a working model and actress, sort of the Brooke Burke route. That way I won’t get tagged as a nude model. I’ve been talking to them about doing Babe of the Month which is Playboy’s non-nude feature.”
She said her experience at Savvy “has been really satisfying. I’ve met a lot of people who I definitely consider more than just fans. I’ve made a lot of friends. Hopefully I’ll get to meet a lot of them at events so I can put faces to names. I was very jazzed to find out I had a lot of support on the site.”
For her photo shoot with Barry Smith, Raven took on the old Hollywood glamour look while posing at Boardners, a nightclub that dates back to 1942.
“The photo shoot was really fun,” she said. “I always love getting paid to play dress up. It wasn’t so much about putting on the glam face and flirting with the camera. I usually prefer photos where I’m smiling, but it’s like playing a role where I’m the good girl or a bit of a villain.”
Raven, whatever role you’re playing, Savvy can’t wait to see you perform…
