April Verie came to Savvy's "Is She Hot?" contest like a sexy twister rolling across the Texas plains.

The full-time model, who recently turned 25, arrived in Atlanta for her ISH winner's shoot and headed to a sports bar with this writer to sip a few suds and get her story.

She would be a fun girl to know in everyday life, the kind who likes to party but isn't so wild you find yourself apologizing to strangers on the way out. It's easy to look at her photos and assume she's conceited, but that would be a mistake.

"I'm no nun," she said, "but I've always considered myself a good person to some degree and believe that I only get better with age and life experience. I am an outgoing person and always looking for a good time."

During her photo shoot, there was excitement when some people across from the studio hinted they might loan their dog for a photo, but once they heard it was for sexy pictures going on a website, they assumed the worst and declined the offer. Hey, their loss - they didn't even get to glimpse the gorgeous lady who would be posing with their pooch...

Savvy: You're a bit of a mystery because you won the contest largely based on your over-the-top sexiness in your photos, more than your personality. That isn't always the case.

April: Johnny Crosslin did most of the photos I entered in ISH.

Savvy: He's pretty awesome, but I'm sure you made it easier for him. Tell us more about yourself since we barely had time to get to know you.

April: I grew up in a very small town near Austin, Texas. There were, like, 10 people living there.

Savvy: Not a lot of competition in the beauty contests, eh? (Laughs)

April: (Laughs) The town only had a Wal-Mart and a Dairy Queen.

Savvy: What more do you need? (Laughs)

April: I think growing up there made me adventurous. I grew up with my parents and two sisters. I was very shy and quiet in my early school years and made good grades. Then, I guess around junior high, I discovered boys and became a bit wilder.

Savvy: Right on!

April: I have no complaints about my childhood or how I was raised. I couldn't have asked for a better life. It contributed to who I am today.

Savvy: Did you enjoy your Savvy photo shoot with Rick Hughes?

April: I'm very excited to finally see my photos going on Savvy. The shoot went great, and I had a blast! I couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere or group of professionals.

Savvy: Did you have a favorite outfit you posed in?

April: Anything sexy works for me. I'm still a little disappointed we didn't get to shoot with the big dog though.

Savvy: How did you find out about Savvy and the contest?

April: A few of my model friends posed for you guys before me, so I decided to give it a shot as well.

Savvy: Keep telling your hot model friends to sign up!

April: I won the first month I entered the contest.

Savvy: Very rare feat. What's the down side to being so hot?

April: There are occasionally "haters", people who automatically assume you have no brains just because you look good. It is also harder to be taken seriously for certain jobs or opportunities.

Savvy: Most people assume that beautiful people, especially beautiful women, get everything they want on a silver platter.

April: Well, I always feel like I'm on a pedestal where every attribute a person can think of is projected onto their image of what I'm like. A lot of people view you as a sex object instead of a human being.

Savvy: In their defense, you are scrumptious-looking. But sitting here chilling out with you, you seem more intelligent and down-to-earth than your photos suggest.

April: Like I said, people assume you have no brains.

Savvy: Do you ever get tired of people staring at you and wishing you were their girlfriends or does that sort of thing make your day? Do you give up your privacy when you put yourself out there for people to admire and, frankly, lust after?

April: I'm a confident person and try not to let little things bother me. Modeling is a job like any other, except you get your make-up professionally done so you look great. As with any job where you get a lot of exposure, you sacrifice your privacy. If you're a private type of person, modeling is not the job for you.

Savvy: What kind of stuff do you do for fun?

April: I'm your typical girly girl! I like modeling, traveling, going to movies, working out, laying out by the pool, bubble baths, partying, and, like most girls, shopping!

Savvy: Okay, a gazillion guys are reading this and waiting for the big question: Are you taken?

April: I am dating someone.

Savvy: (Makes the sound of a disappointed crowd)

April: (Laughs)

Savvy: Let me guess. Some famous athlete or movie star?

April: No, I've never dated any celebrities.

Savvy: So somewhere out there is a mere mortal that gets to take you to bed every night? Life is so unfair! (Laughs) Assuming you drop this guy and look for a replacement...

April: Well...

Savvy: (interrupting) Indulge me for a second. What kind of guy would get to substitute teach you in the school of love?

April: (Laughs) Mmm, okay... I'll just say that the qualities I find attractive in a man are confidence, good looks and a good personality. I like a well-kept, in shape, caring, make-me-laugh kind of guy.

Savvy: Does a guy need a fat wallet to have you on his arm?

April: I'm not a gold-digger, but I'm no sugar momma either. (Laughs) I don't normally date bodybuilders or city mayors. (Laughs) I don't really have a type. I just know when I see what I like and the personality that appeals to me when I meet a guy.

Savvy: Would you ever go for a sugar daddy? Because you are definitely trophy wife material. No offense.

April: None taken.

Savvy: How about it? Would you marry some old rich guy like Anna Nicole to get his fortune?

April: I don't really have an age preference, but no 90-year-old tycoons or anything like that! Ewww gross!! (Laughs)

Savvy: Let's further assume that you didn't have a boyfriend and you met a guy who was everything that appeals to you. Funny, great looking, really cut. He says he wants to sleep with you and you've already been thinking along the same lines. You find out he's stinking filthy rich and he offers to keep writing zeros on a check until you agree to sleep with him. Do you slap him and tell him to go to hell or do you get the pleasure you wanted anyway and take the money?

April: I'm not a ho!

Savvy: Of course not. Me either. I'll take my clothes off for you right now for free. (Laughs)

April: (Laughs)

Savvy: Just kidding. What sort of things are deal-breakers for you, romantically speaking?

April: I can't stand guys who are arrogant, smell or look bad, act all cocky, who are lazy, or guys who smoke cigarettes or do drugs.

Savvy: And what about positive things your man can do?

April: I don't kiss and tell, but a romantic dinner with bubbly is a plus! I like good eye contact, good manners, intelligence, confidence, a sense of humor, and a good smile.

Savvy: And how do you set the mood for your man?

April: I just slip on some sexy lingerie. It seems to be enough.

Savvy: We can see where that might do the trick.
