If her myspace page is to be believed, Vilayna Lasalle is saving Princess Zelda, one heart at a time.

While this may confuse some, it will win over others. Gaming nerds, let your collective hearts be still – this States-based model is a Zelda freak from way back.

“I love video games,” says Lasalle. “Zelda is one of my favourite RPG's (Role-Playing Game) out there.”

If we didn’t have you sold on Lasalle before, dear readers, we’re sure that at the mention of role-playing your interest is officially piqued.

“I am working hard, day by day, to accomplish my dreams,” explains Lasalle.  While she may say that she is inching closer to her dreams level by level, the truth is that she has finished Zelda more than a few times over.

The same goes for her modelling: she is not chasing success, she has found it. To date, she’s been featured as a much-coveted California Speedway Girl calendar model; has been named in the top five of hot Latino models in Spain, and graced the silver screen in Meet the Spartans.

“I never buy a game without finishing it,” says Lasalle firmly. “I love challenging games. The last two Metroids were pretty challenging, especially adjusting to the new play-handling with the Wii controls.” Among her gaming favourites she counts many, including Soul Calibur, Tekken, Final Fantasy, and Zelda (of course).

When asked what kind of gaming character she’d be if she could have the chance of any, she puts it to great consideration.

“Hmm… if I was a video game character I would love to be someone strong with a sexy body and hero mentality, some one like Metriod, but not in the suit. I will be as quick as Naruto and have powers like Rogue… Ok, now I’m getting carried away.”

Carried away or carrying on, Savvy finds it interesting that Lasalle lives and works in two such seemingly disparate worlds; the traditionally male-orientated world of dungeons and dragons, and the female-focussed, fashion-following one of modelling.

“It is not fair to label it that way. There are plenty of girls who can take down an opponent in a fighting game,” she says, citing that your gender should never restrict your dreams (or your hobbies). Growing up, it was undeniable that she was kept company in the gamesroom by more boys than girls, but this was no deterrent.

“It was not intimidating, it was encouraging,” says Lasalle. “I never thought it to be boring. I would sit and watch, play, and even give tips.”

She has come a long way from the games room. At the time of interview, Lasalle was spending some time in her home-town, Los Angeles, getting ready for a trip to Vegas for a lingerie show, which will be closely followed by a working-holiday to Spain for a week-long shoot.

Considering her current line of work, it’s a good thing that Lasalle loves to travel. She is especially a fan of Miami, “for the hot weather and sexy bodies,” and is looking forward to all that Spain has in store for her. She laughs that despite the job, she still can’t let go of her inner nerd -  unashamedly admitting her addiction is to her ever-present iPhone.

“I love it! I must have it with me all the time. I can email, chat, access my favourite web links, send photos, send files even pdfs... there are so many things I can do on it!” Anyone would think that she was a one-woman band, but Lasalle says that she has a great management team behind her.

“I am very grateful for the representation that I have. They believe in me and keep me busy. I am proud to be able to do something I love and have fun doing.” Busy she has been indeed, having just started work on comedy sketch, Now That's Sketchy.

When asked for her closing comments, Lasalle winks.

“Beijos a todo o mundo!”

To many Savvy readers it will seems like she is once again speaking in tongues, but it means ‘kisses to all’. Such a farewell, Savvy is sure, ensures that Princess Zelda is in extremely capable hands.
