Krisztina Lajtai originally hails from the former Communist state of Hungary and also has a home in Italy, but for the last eight months she has been trying her luck with modelling States-side.

See the photos...

“I was born in a very small town called Mesztegnyo, but I moved to Milan, where there are millions of people,” she told Savvy, through a translator.

“I like the United States. While I love the strong culture of Europe because of the architecture and the art, I am fascinated with the many different types of people in the US and it is easier to realise your goals and dreams than in Europe,” she said.

The 26-year-old Lajtai aspires to become a Victoria’s Secret lingerie model like her favorite model Adrianna Lima, and she said she loves runway fashion modelling. A strong sense of style is one of her strengths.

“Since I lived in Italy, I admire Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. I am very stylish and like to go out very dressed up, but I can still look good in casual clothing. I like to mix it up,” she said.

Lajtai, who started her own very successful import/export business dealing in toner ink cartridges in Italy at age 22, is most proud that she started working at a young age and has achieved a lot professionally.

Her side trek into the modelling world began when she had a portrait made and the photographer thought she was so pretty that he sent her photos to a modelling agency. Back in Italy, she became the face behind a line of sunglasses.

“Modelling has been a lot of fun experiences. I have learned how to take care of myself and how to look my best. I’ve met lots of interesting people,” she said. “I love to work with the camera and I especially like the travel.”

Now that she’s in Los Angeles and posing for top photographers like Marcel Indik, Lajtai plans to improve her English skills and do as much modelling as she can.

“I’m realising that there are a lot of girls trying to be models and beyond working really hard to get to a certain point, a lot of your success in modelling depends on luck,” she said.

She laughs, saying that she hopes luck is on her side.

Time for a quickie with… Krisztina Lajtai

When not in front of the camera she enjoys...
extreme sports like parachuting and riding motorcycles.

She obsessively watches...
Tyra Banks’ talk show and episodes of America’s Next Top Model.

She can’t stop listening to… Laura Pausini, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Santana, Robbie Williams, and Andrea Bocelli on her iPod.

She been to… places like Mexico and Cuba,

She’s keen to visit…
Australia, the Polynesian Islands, and Bora Bora.

If she had a million dollars… like the future winner of Savvy’s Million Dollar Woman, Lajtai said she would provide for her family still in Hungary and build an orphanage, then spend a couple of years travelling the world on what remained.

If she could change the world… she would “make it so people are not so mean to each other. There’s a lot of meanness in the world and too many people caught up in making money. They are not paying enough attention to their relationships. I would also make people more honest.”

Many Thanks To...

and goals can be achieved everywhere as long as you are willing to go after them. I lived in the States for over ten years and things were not handed to me. You have to work for them even in the USA. I am back in Europe and the opportunities are just as good , I achieved what I wanted here just the same. You have to work hard in order to achieve your goals and no country is going to give it to you the easy way. After all, it seems like Italy has offered you great work opportunities and gave work to the others from ex Communist places. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, be grateful.
