It would be appropriate if Gabrielle Tuite auditioned for the role of "Wonder Woman." She's already got the wonder part down.
The words actress, model, hostess, entrepreneur and charitable heart all occupy a spot on her resume. Right now, she's best known as one of Barker's Beauties on CBS's "The Price is Right", but you might have seen her in magazines such as US, People, InStyle, In Touch, Men's Fitness, Physical, Ironman, Muscle and Fitness or this month's issue of Stuff Magazine.
As part owner and spokesmodel for Sunset Tan, Gabrielle is also one of the main creative designers behind every new upscale salon. She also does a lot of interior and exterior design on many of her real estate spec homes. She has created a collection of charms made from silver and rhinestones that are worn on women's jeans, and she will be launching her line of "Jean Charms" this summer at some retail stores in the Los Angeles area. Gabrielle is also the co-creator and founder of a Hollywood restaurant/lounge, Aqua, scheduled to open spring 2006.
Like we said, a wonder of a woman. Savvy actually got her to stop moving long enough to do an interview so we could learn the secrets of a woman with Martha Stewart's creativity, the face of an angel and a centerfold's body.
Savvy: We're exhausted just reading about you. How do you do it, Gabby?
Gabrielle: It's called chaos. (Laughs) It's a 24 hour job. Lately, I'm the first to say I think I've become a workaholic in a lot of ways. It's so exhilarating, especially to have so much success and see so many of my dreams start to come true. It's very motivating. I just can't seem to slow down.
Savvy: Weren't you on NBC's "Las Vegas"?
Gabrielle: I did a guest star role on an episode with Jean Claude Van Damm. He was filming a movie in the casino. My character's husband was the director. I was a promiscuous wife having an affair with the stuntman that was supposed to be driving the motorcycle. Jean Claude insisted on doing his own stunt, so he was killed because my husband found out and rigged the motorcycle to kill my lover. I was a little bad wife.
Savvy: And who did you use for inspiration as the little bad wife? Anybody we know?
Gabrielle: (Laughs) Who is my role model for that? Gosh, ya know. I was just a cold-hearted person, which I just think of some people that didn't make me too happy in my lifetime, so... I don't have an actual person to role-model for a villain.
Savvy: You're a diplomat too. Where are you from originally?
Gabrielle: I was born in Brooklyn, and my family moved to Santa Monica when I was 8. My mother was in art school and decided to make me her model for her photography class. When I was 13, I was scouted by a model agent, Nicole Bordeoux, who was so persistent and offered to pay for sending my photos to top agencies. I did my first job for John Paul Mitchell hair products that same year. Three years later, I booked my first national commercial. I've done more than 30 since then -- most recently, a Verizon Wireless Super Bowl commercial featuring Kid Rock, Shaquille O'Neal and Christina Aguilera.
Savvy: Where else can we look for you?
Gabrielle: I was in "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and I had a co-starring role opposite Eric Roberts and Charlie Schlatter in "Miss Castaway." I've also been working on a new movie called "Forbidden" that is a love triange story involving an all-girl band. It will be released sometime in 2006.
Savvy: I definitely want to catch anything you're in because you are stunning!
Gabrielle: Thank you.
Savvy: You look like one of those girls who's so hot she can be a total bitch, yet, in reality, you're very sweet. At least so far.
Gabrielle: Thank you again.
Savvy: Why, on top of everything else, do you do things like Meals on Wheels, The Downtown Mission and Best Buddies? I mean, there are plenty of ugly girls with spare time and hearts of gold, right?
Gabrielle: When you go out and really make a difference in peoples' lives and they're grateful, there's nothing more fulfilling, at least for me. I can honestly say that. I've bonded with some people that it makes their day when I e-mail them. It feels good to touch someone and make them happy. That's what it's all about. Giving.
Savvy: I might just go down and volunteer if it means getting to hang out with a girl like you. What's the best way for a guy to get your phone number and convince you to go out with him?
Gabrielle: Be sincere. That's very appealing and attractive. Sometimes on the approach, it's not what you say but how you say it. I've had guys come up and be so nice and so sweet that it really is a turn-on.
Savvy: I thought nice guys were boring.
Gabrielle: (Laughs) I don't know. I don't get bored with sweet and nice. I know some people do.
Savvy: What if a guy fulfills you emotionally and is great in every way except that he can't get hard in bed, even with a woman as hot as you sitting there naked. Do you trade him in for someone who isn't as cuddly but gets an erection whenever you enter the room?
Gabrielle: I'd have to go get him some Viagra, steal some of Hefner's.
Savvy: What if one of your best friends, male or female, suddenly admitted to being in love with you and made overtures to have sex with you? What would you do?
Gabrielle: (Gasp) Oh, Gosh, that just happened to me.
Savvy: A girlfriend?
Gabrielle: No, I am not into women. I recently broke up with my boyfriend of three years. A couple of friends who are guys basically just told me how in love they are with me. Actually three guys. This has happened in the last two months. They've made very aggressive attempts.
Savvy: Wow. They're wrangling pretty hard to be your rebound guy. Did I mention I am madly in love with you too? Can I jump on the bandwagon?
Gabrielle: It's been hard just because I'm not in that place, and it made me question if that's why they are my friends. One of them knew I wasn't in that place and made a very aggressive move. It kind of hurt me a little bit, but I'm still friends with them all.
Savvy: Still, it has to be a little weird hanging out with them knowing they all want to make you squeal. Not that I can blame them...
Gabrielle: My one friend who I had a big ordeal with, he apologized profusely. It gets a little weird and awkward. He gave me a nice compliment. He said, "You are amazing and have everything a guy would want, well-rounded and put together, so I can't help myself." I guess I can be understanding of that. I can't knock him for truly loving me.
Savvy: That's true. If I hit on you here in a minute, it's because I can't help myself either. How can guys make women fall in love with us and want to have our babies?
Gabrielle: Every woman wants a guy to sweep her off her feet. Every woman wants to be Cinderella and just have a guy adore her. I think romance is really the key to a woman's heart because if a guy is thoughtful and puts a lot of thought into what he does... It doesn't have to be a dozen roses, maybe just one when she wakes up in the morning or when she comes home from work. It's the thought behind it that women love. Women want to feel special, so if you put thought into being romantic and doing nice, sweet things, I think it will really go a long way. At least it does with me anyway. (Laughs)
Savvy: Doesn't it become predictable after a while? The guy is expected to do sweet things?
Gabrielle: You gotta keep it exciting, keep the passion. You've got to find ways to reinvent your relationship. That's the key to having a long-term passionate relationship. Challenge yourself. Appreciate the other person and truly be into them. If you really want to be with them, it motivates you to try new things or do something nice for them, something to make them smile.
Savvy: What's the most romantic thing a guy has ever done for you?
Gabrielle: I've had guys plan some pretty amazing trips. Amazing vacations. Flowers everywhere and surprises along the way.
Savvy: So a guy needs to make more money than you do?
Gabrielle: No, but I do want someone who is on the same page, driven and ambitious, because I am. I'm attracted to guys who are very intelligent -- men with a great sense of humor and an outgoing personality. Men who like to have fun. I definitely have a boyish side. They should have a mind for business as well. I like older men just because I love to learn and grow. The more experienced and knowledgeable he is, the more he has to offer.
Savvy: How old are we talking here? Surely you don't want a stepdaughter who's older than you.
Gabrielle: I'd say within 10 years of my own age. Unfortunately, men don't mature as quickly as women in a lot of ways. They aren't ready to settle down and commit until they get a little bit older. I do like them older for that reason, but not too old. I'm young at heart and I have a pretty hectic, crazy life. I want someone who can keep up with it all.
Savvy: What do men need to do better in terms of sex?
Gabrielle: A lot of guys don't like to kiss. Women are kissers. It's more intimate when guys like to kiss a lot and be affectionate. Women like to be grabbed and kissed and hugged. It makes us feel desired and loved and wanted. Guys should be more hands-on.
Savvy: That's funny, my girl keeps telling me to stop touching her boobs. I can't help it. They're just so fun. I guess I should look her in the eyes every now and then. What do you think makes someone "great" in bed?
Gabrielle: Women like a variety of things. Sometimes the woman wants to be the aggressor, sometimes the man. Just mixing things up, being different and creative. Passion is important. Whatever passion brings out in you.
Savvy: Is there anything you fantasize about doing but probably never will?
Gabrielle: No. I fantasize about some things and I just go do them.
Savvy: Which celebrity would you most like to run into in a dark alley?
Gabrielle: Definitely Brad Pitt.
Savvy: I hear he's available now. Do you see yourself shacked up with him in five years?
Gabrielle: I see myself definitely married. I want to have kids when I find the right person. I also want to be directing, hopefully starring on my own TV show or in a major film. I will probably start with producing. I've always wanted to go behind the camera as well. I don't feel like enough women do. There's a lot of guys behind the camera.
Savvy: You act, model, host, design, give to the needy and run a couple of businesses. What's your favorite hat to wear?
Gabrielle: That's a tough question. I'm creative, so that's what all of these things have in common. In acting, you're creating a character. Obviously, designing is creating. Business is thinking of new marketing strategies or ideas. I love all of it because I am a creative person by nature. Even in other things, you have to be creative, what you say and how you say it.
Savvy: How do you make yourself look sexy in a photo?
Gabrielle: For me, coming from the acting background, if you are truly feeling something, it will show in pictures. You can look at a picture where you are with friends having a great time and it brings back that moment. There's a difference between smiling and pretending you are having a good time and actually having something going on in your head. It comes through in the eyes. Confidence is sexy. Being real, true to who you are and how you are, is very sexy. I think it's the eyes. Your eyes can speak a thousand words.
Savvy: All eyes are on you on "The Price Is Right", where you and the other Barker's Beauties point at things and smile. That's a pretty cool way to make a living.
Gabrielle: It's actually a lot of work. It looks very easy and simple and sometimes you're extremely tired at the end of the day. We just finished the million-dollar primetime special where we shot three different shows and gave away up towards a million dollars in prizes like yachts that are worth $100,000. The high-end version of "The Price Is Right". That was a lot of fun.
Savvy: What do you do for fun?
Gabrielle: Fun? Lately, not a lot. (Laughs) Really, honestly, I am a homebody when I do get to be at home. I love to have friends over, cook for them and just hang out on the weekends by the pool. I like just being around my friends. I love traveling and learning new things, going to new places and meeting new people. When I do get the chance, I'm off.
Savvy: Your lounge, Aqua, is supposed to open next year. How do you make a brand new place seem hip and attract cool people?
Gabrielle: When you are a part of that crowd, it makes it a lot easier. We also have promoters come in for different nights. It's about keeping everything upscale, the music, the quality of the crowd and the food.
Savvy: Sounds like a fun place to be single and mingle. Now that you don't have a boyfriend, are you tempted to play the field a little?
Gabrielle: I've never been single, and I'm kind of enjoying it now. I put all my time into my career and everything is going so good. I went to Vegas with my girlfriends for the weekend and had a fun time. We ate some nice dinners and just hung out and gambled and acted like girls, went shopping and went to the spa. We covered it all.
Savvy: I thought what happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas.
