Some photographers do it for fun, others do it for money. Now photographers will pick up their cameras in the hope of winning worldwide publicity and a chance at a trip to Australia to shoot 16 of the world’s most beautiful women.

Savvy.com is announcing the creation of its Savvy Editors’ Choice Awards (SECA), which will recognize photographers for excellence in beauty and glamour photography.

Since 2004, amateur and professional models have submitted their photos to Savvy’s Is She Hot? online beauty contest. As of January 1st, 2008, these women will have an opportunity to chase an unprecedented $1 million prize in Savvy’s Search for the Million Dollar Woman.

The Savvy Editors’ Choice Awards will also start January 1st, giving photographers the incentive to collaborate with beautiful women to create gorgeous, non-nude images that can be entered in both contests, as both photographer and subject will have a chance to win fame and recognition.

Each month, Savvy’s editors will review photographs submitted by amateur and professional photographers, awarding the most excellent images as Editors’ Choice. Photos will be judged based on the photographer’s skill in lighting, composition and direction. At the end of each month during 2008, the photographer holding the Editors’ Choice title will be featured for Savvy’s millions of readers around the world.

Photographer Brie Childers had a showcase article written about her.

"The article Savvy ran about me was so flattering that I emailed it to everyone I know (and then some) bragging about being featured on Savvy.com," Childers said. "I had a lot of emails come in after the piece ran, which let me know that the article had the effect of people clicking on my website."

In early 2009, one of the twelve SECA finalists will win a chance to travel to Sydney, Australia and help photograph the 16 women chosen by Savvy readers to compete in the televised and web-cast Search for the Million Dollar Woman finale.

This isn’t just a photo contest; it’s also a tool for Savvy to scout photographers to join the Savvy family. Even if a photographer doesn’t make it to Sydney, he or she might just get a shot being a Savvy snapper elsewhere – the possibilities are limitless!

To promote the Savvy Editors’ Choice Awards and the Search for the Million Dollar Woman, Savvy is networking with top modeling websites such as OneModelPlace.com, Solo Models and Ujena Talent. Savvy will have representatives at next month’s Ujena Jam in Cancun to sign up models and photographers for both competitions, with many more events marked in the diary throughout the year.
