The gorgeous, dynamic and talented Casey Connor is the next leading lady making her mark as one of the most sought after DJ’s around the country.
This DJ and host is showing why the top celebrities are booking her to turn their turntables. With past projects that have included Britney Spears, Madonna, P. Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West and much more, Casey is showing why this lady could be the next “DJ AM” at your nearest nightclub or event.
The Brooklyn native grew up in a musical family and attended the renowned “Fame School” LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, where fellow graduates, like Alicia Keys, Jennifer Aniston, and Dustin Hoffman have graced the hallways. When her parents both died, she was forced to support her 3 brothers and young sisters, taking on music and acting head one while also running a daycare center from her home.
She was eventually signed to a recording contract as a singer and toured the world with well-known artists. She dabbled in the dance scene by appearing in videos with Jennifer Lopez and Whitney Houston.
Casey’s past projects have included Entertainment Weekly parties, People Magazine parties, “Grey Anatomy” parties, and DJing for Donald Trump, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, TATU, Sony parties, Rolling Stone events, VMA parties, release parties and many more. Casey was also the runner up to be the DJ for the Ellen Degeneres Show along with being a resident DJ in LA and NYC.
When Casey is not working, she loves to volunteer for sick children and handicapped kids at the UCLA medial center. She likes to volunteer by playing sports at the local Boys and Girls Clubs. You can always find Casey being a part of a national/local charity event and training other’s at the gym.
She gave Savvy a few moments of her time for an interview…
Savvy: You’ve worked some pretty high-profile gigs and entertained A-list celebrities in the coolest clubs. What’s an interesting story from the scene?
Casey: Just recently, I DJ’d for Britney Spears. She came up and hugged me and thanked me for putting her in a great mood with the music that I played. She then turned around and said, “And you are by far the HOTTEST DJ I’ve ever seen!” (laughs) It was a pretty funny moment.
Savvy: We’d have to agree with Brit on that. You are not only beautiful and physically fit, but very talented as well. How did you get into DJ’ing?
Casey: I became a DJ five years ago when Benny Median, my manager at the time, suggested it to me because of my love and knowledge of music. He thought I’d be a great DJ so his group Salt N Peppa, who he was managing at the time, needed a DJ to go on the road with them since Spinderella was pregnant. Spinderella herself trained me. The appeal behind it was that I was making people happy with the music that I chose to spin, and everyone is always having a great time because of you!
Savvy: That must be a rush. Since you’re the life of the party, what advice would you give our readers so their parties kill?
Casey: Hire me! (laughs) Just kidding. Whoever you hire to DJ, make sure they know what they are doing. I always read the crowd, and that is half of being a good DJ. Knowing the audience!
Savvy: We bet Britney Spears isn’t the only person hitting on you at the events. Guys wanting to hook up all of the time since you’re gorgeous must approach you.
Casey: Aww, thanks for the compliment. I do have some funny pick-up line stories. It’s part of the job. I guess people find it sexy when they see a female doing a male-dominated thing.
Savvy: Any stories from touring with Paul Can Dyke, Paul Oakenfold, TATU and others?
Casey: Yes, touring with those big names was a blast! We toured all of Europe, and I had a very big fan base in Turkey and Greece, so all of the fans would speak to me in their language thinking I was understanding them. I couldn’t make out a word they were saying!
Savvy: You’re also a talented songwriter as well and recorded a song on the soundtrack for Fast and the Furious 2. Tell us about writing songs for artists like The Backstreet Boys, Jessie McCarthy and Michelle Branch.
Casey: It was great writing for those artists. I love songwriting because it enables you to get what you’re feeling out in music and then when another artist sings that song, they always put their own spin on it and it just adds a lot to that song!
Savvy: You’re also an actress. You’ve been in movies like Warner Bros. Pictures The Brave One with Jodie Foster, Searchlight’s Garden State and Paramount Pictures’ Vanilla Sky. What’s been your coolest experience from the movie business?
Casey: I did get to work with Jodie Foster, which was a thrill. She was always someone that I admired in acting.
Savvy: Where’s the party? Where can we come watch you spin?
Casey: I’ll be DJ’ing and hosting at the Crimson nightclub in Hollywood on Dec. 13, DJ’ing a gallery opening in West Hollywood on Dec. 15, and DJ’ing and Hosting Fox’s West Coast Countdown with Jimmy Kimmel at the Hollywood & Highland Kodak Theater Complex on New Year’s Eve.
Savvy: Cool. Keep up the great work, Casey!
